Warnings Bisolvon Linctus Mucolytic Syrup Oily Cough 250 ml 4 mg/5 ml
In very few cases, serious skin lesions such as Stevens Johnson syndrome and toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN) have been observed simultaneously with the administration of expectorants such as bromhexine. Most of these could be explained by the severity of underlying diseases or by other drugs taken at the same time.
Additionally, in the early stages of Stevens Johnson syndrome or toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN), patients may initially experience nonspecific flu-like symptoms, such as fever, chills, rhinitis, cough, and sore throat. Because of these misleading symptoms, symptomatic treatment with cough and cold therapy may be undertaken. Therefore, if new lesions of the skin or mucous membranes occur, consult your doctor immediately and discontinue treatment with bromhexine as a precaution.
Mucolytics can induce bronchial obstruction in children under 2 years of age. In fact, the drainage capacity of bronchial mucus is limited in this age group, due to the physiological characteristics of the respiratory tract. They must therefore not be used in children under 2 years of age (see paragraph "When it should not be used").
